The Band - Story So Far

The Rise are one of Cardiff premium cover bands for people looking for something a bit different. It all started with a band called Pulse. We played all over Wales and the UK and beyond, including many high-profile gigs at venues such as the Cafe Royal.

The band quit for a few years around the time that our then guitarist, Andy Cosslett, tragically died at a young age. However we re-formed in 2010, changed the name to 'The Rise', with updated material and a new guitarist, Ian Ashton (with psychedelic tendencies), who had just returned to south Wales from Bedford, where he was  playing indie and alternative covers in the band Mudshark.

Since then, the band enjoyed many successful gigs before it took another break during 2013, with the retirement of Kempton Rees. Lead singer Rob Cousins joined, bringing his own unique quality to the band and 'The Rise' had risen once again. Shortly after, the drummer Tony Vorden took a sabbatical and the extremely talented musician Kris Williams joined the band on drums, propelling and inspiring the band to new heights and some truly stunning gigs. Following his break, Tony returned on drums to consolidate the current line-up.Throughout all the changes, Jeff Turner on bass has remained the ever enthusiastic linchpin.
